My introduction to Ayurveda was a lecture given by Dr Donn Brennan in 2003 somewhere in Dublin. When considering what beverage to get before going in, I remember thinking I’d better buy a bottle of water instead of the Fanta I really wanted. (I’d later learn that that was wrong too!) I can’t recall the content precisely but I vividly remember the atmosphere he created – uplifting, inspiring, energetic, fun and entertaining in a very Irish way.
So as I start my professional studies in Ayurveda, and begin giving lectures and consultations, my wish is to emulate Dr Donn by showing reverence to the knowledge while keeping a bit of whimsy to reach the Fanta lovers. I am forever grateful to him and his wife Ann, my teachers, my mentors and, I’m lucky to say, my great friends.
